Volunteering in Our School

We Appreciate Our Volunteers

Here are some great ways you can get involved at Westside!

Westside O.P.T.S. (Organization of Parents, Teachers and Students)

We are parent/guardian volunteers dedicated to supporting the education of children at Westside Elementary by fostering relationships between the school, parents and teachers. All Parents/Guardians are welcome!  O.P.T.S. meets the 2nd Tuesday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the multipurpose room.  Come learn about what is happening at Westside and how you can get involved.

Schools of Hope

Schools of Hope

Westside is a School of Hope which invites community members to participate and volunteer to work with students and help them to excel. Information on the Schools of Hope program is described below. In addition, community members over the age of 60 can earn tax credits by volunteering in our schools. Contact Renee Gilman at 608.834.7546 for further details.

WatchDOGS®

WatchDOGS® are fathers, grandfathers, uncles and other father-figures who volunteer at the school for a day. During the day, they read and work on flash cards with students, play at recess, eat lunch with students, watch the school entrances and hallways, assist with traffic flow and any other assigned activities where they actively engage with not only their own students, but other students as well. For more information about this national program, please visit the WatchDOGS® website.

WatchDOGS® are great role models for our students! Please contact Camie Andrews at 608.834.7509 to set up a date.

Prior to your event, please make sure you have a criminal background check completed and on file.
You can download this file at the link below or contact our office at 608.834.7503 for assistance.
