MORE ABOUT SP4K:
SP4K is the Sun Prairie Area’s four-year-old kindergarten (4K) program. It is an optional early childhood program designed to provide young learners with a foundational educational experience through structured play and learning activities. SP4K is a half-day program (with classes in the morning or afternoon) focused on developing social, emotional, and cognitive skills, and preparing children for future academic success.
Children who enroll in 4K programs benefit from a nurturing, play-based environment where they develop essential skills such as language, problem-solving, creativity, and social interaction. These programs foster a love of learning, encourage independence, and help ease the transition to kindergarten. Play-based learning is central to the 4K experience, allowing children to explore, experiment, and engage with their environment. This approach enhances creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking.
SP4K partners with 7 community daycare centers and preschools and is currently in 4 of the district’s elementary schools. The SP4K program is aligned across all 11 sites ensuring a consistent and cohesive educational experience for all children. This alignment allows families to choose the setting that best suits their needs while maintaining a high standard of learning and development throughout the community.
