Attendance

An absence is considered unexcused if the student does not attend part or all of one or more school days during which the school has not been notified of the documented reason for such an absence by the parent/caregiver of the absent student. Absences called in by a parent/caregiver that accrue beyond 10 days of excused absences will also be marked as unexcused unless they meet the definition of an exempt absence.

Any student excused in writing by his/her/their parent/caregiver prior to an absence is excused from school attendance. A student may be excused by the parent/caregiver under this provision for not more than 10 days in the school year. Accrued absences beyond 10 days will be marked as unexcused absences.

A student is marked tardy if they arrive after the start of the school day.
