Welcome to Prairie Phoenix Academy, home of the Rising Phoenix.
May 26, 2020
Dear Prairie Phoenix Academy Families:
I would like to take the time to introduce myself as the incoming Principal of Alternative Education Programs for the upcoming 2020-2021 school year. I want to also thank Ms. Bollinger for her many years of service to education as a whole but specifically to the Sun Prairie Area School District and Prairie Phoenix Academy. I have been working alongside Ms. B and acclimating to the school since March 23rd and I grow more excited each day with new learning from her. I am most excited about the opportunity to partner with PPA families and scholars and I look forward to helping each of your scholars meet and exceed their academic and social goals on the pathway to earning their high school diplomas. As you know, we are living during very difficult times due to the COVid-19 world pandemic and social justice matters across our nation. I am proud to share that in my short time in this role PPA families and especially our scholars have adjusted to the current way that we are doing school with incredible resilience and determination to succeed, thank you!
It is my sincere belief that “Education is the key to unlocking the golden door of freedom” (George Washington Carver) and, because of that we must continue to plan, adjust, and collaborate to ensure that our scholars are set up for success in school at all times. We expect that school may look different than what we have seen in past years. We anticipate change will be forthcoming and we are proactively planning ahead to ensure that the learning and delivery of high quality educational experiences continues in what format that best protects the safety of our families, staff, and community. The PPA team is prepared for the new challenges and opportunities to be more innovative than ever and I could not be more proud to be a part of the staff team leading in this work.
I hosted two virtual meet and greet sessions in early June and had the opportunity to meet many of our scholars and families. Listening to the questions and concerns while also sharing a little about my experience and vision was fulfilling and refreshing, I miss connecting with people. If you were unable to attend a meet and greet session and would like to talk with me I invite you to contact me directly via cell phone or email and I am happy to set up a time that works within your schedule so that we can talk. I will share more about myself and the vision that I have for all PPA scholars beginning with the 2020-2021 school year. This is also a time for you to share your hopes, dreams, and concerns with me as well as ask questions that you may have.
