Parent(s)/guardian(s) may report a student absence to Patrick Marsh 24 hours per day by calling our Attendance Line at 834-7600, press 1 to report a student absence.   Then, please leave a short message with the following information:

• Child’s name
• Teacher’s name or grade
• Reason for absence
• Who is calling

Please DO NOT call or email your child’s teacher, as this message is not often relayed to attendance desk, which may result in you receiving a phone call.

Please call the attendance line before 9 am any morning your child will NOT be in school.  If we don’t hear from you, we will contact you at home or work.  We want to make sure of your child’s safe arrival. 

Your child’s absence will be considered UNEXCUSED if:

• we do not receive a call from you by 9 am.
• the reason for the absence is in question. In this case, Student Services will discuss the situation with you.
• your child has a pattern of absences/tardiness.  In this case, you receive a letter from Student Services.

Please try to make arrangements for after-school pick ups with your child prior to the start of the day. 

We understand circumstances change and will try to deliver messages by the end of the day.  Please call the main office at 834-7603 if that is the case.  However, to minimize missed messages or classroom disruptions, it is helpful to know the plan in advance.

If your student has an appointment before school or during the school day, please either call the main office or send a note with your student to bring to the main office in the morning.  We will give your student a departure pass, which allows them to leave class at the appropriate time, and then they can sign themselves out.  Please include the following information in your message or note:

• Name of Student
• Time you would like to pick up your student.

We very much appreciate advance notice of students who have to leave during the day!

Please remember that there is absolutely NO eating allowed on district buses. Many students have life-threatening food allergies that could be affected by others eating on the bus.

If your child does not get a chance to eat breakfast at home before school, please make sure he/she knows to wait until they arrive at school before eating to ensure the safety of everyone.

If your child is given a snack or treat at the end of the day we also ask that they eat it at school or wait until they get home.

Cell phones and personal electronics are allowed on school buses. However, students are asked to please be respectful and responsible when using their phones and other devices. Headphones or earbuds are required when listening to music or videos as to not distract the driver or disrupt other students. Absolutely no flash or bright lights are allowed - this is a major safety issue for the driver. All school and district policies and procedures relating to personal electronic devices also apply while students are on the bus.

To add additional funds into a lunch account, log into Infinite Campus with your user name and password.  Locate the "Payments" tab on the navigation bar along the left-hand side of the screen. Under  "Food Service Account," you will see the names of all students list in your household.  Simply add the amount of money you wish to contribute and select "Continue."  Then, you can add or select your payment of choice - either a banking account or a credit card.

Patrick Marsh Middle School Cell Phone Policy

2025-2026

Creating a positive and safe learning environment is crucial to the success and well-being of our students.  Cell phones and personal electronic devices can be disruptive in the classroom and may violate others' privacy.  We know that there will be times when you need to contact your child, and caregivers can always call the office at 608-834-7603.  We will gladly relay a message to your student.  If students need to contact their parent/guardian, they may request a pass to the office to make a phone call.  If you have extenuating circumstances, please reach out to Mrs. Zahn or Mrs. Andreoni.

 

At Patrick Marsh, students may use electronic devices before and after school ONLY. Students are never allowed to use their electronic devices during the school day.

In accordance with Board Policy (JFCK):

 

All “Personal Electronic Devices,” including cell phones, are to be stored, powered off, in locker, and unused during the entirety of the school day. Any headphones, earpiece, or similar equipment associated with the device must be stored in lockers and not worn.  Student use of any personal electronic device or accessory is prohibited during classroom instruction and passing time, except as specifically authorized by a district employee. 

 

Any student who possesses or uses a personal electronic device and/or associated equipment in a manner that violates this policy, or any other policy or school rule is in violation of our student handbook.  He/She/They shall be subject to consequences including, but not limited to, disciplinary action, required surrender of the personal electronic device, and/or potentially having the option to possess a personal electronic device at school further restricted. 

 

Consequences for failure to follow the policy:

• 1st offense - Warning, communication to caregiver.
• 2nd offense - Student turns in phone for two days*, communication with parent/caregiver.
• 3rd offense-Student turns in phone for four days*, communication with parent/caregiver.
• 4th offense-Student turns in phone for ten days*, required parent/caregiver meeting.

*The student will turn in the phone and pick it up at the end of each day from the main office.
