Family Engagement Guide

Dear Northside Community,

Below are the details that outline the Northside Family Engagement Plan for 2024-25.

The goal of sharing this guide is to help you find the pathways to partnership that your school has set up for families. You are essential to student success and that you belong as a part of your student’s school community. All parents and caregivers are essential partners in every child's educational journey. The collaboration of our staff and families is fundamental to supporting students in achieving their highest potential.

The SPASD district webpage is a great resource. It is very likely that you can find what you are looking for on the webpage. We highly recommend it as a go-to resource for our families.

Northside Digital School Calendar is available on our webpage. You can also link it to your own personal electronic calendar.  You can access it here.

Please visit our Northside Elementary School Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/NorthsideElementary/

We look forward to a great year with you at Northside Elementary School!

Sincerely,

Help us Meet our Goals as a School Community

  1. We can’t teach students that aren’t present at school so everything you can do to get your children to school on time (i.e. 7:30am) would be amazing!

  2. Supporting learning at home with nightly reading makes a HUGE difference in how your children progress in their literacy skills.

  3. Giving our students and families a strong sense of belonging is very important to us so when you see something that we could be doing differently to support you or your child, we welcome that conversation!

SCO - Role, Goals, Opportunities to Participate

The Northside SCO (SCONES) meets every second Tuesday of the month from 6:30-7:30 pm in the LGI.  We always have childcare available so you can have some adult time with the other caregivers in attendance.

How you can Support your Student's Success and Advocate for them

We encourage families to reach out at any time to ask questions or give us feedback about how we are meeting their child’s needs and ensuring they are advancing their SEL and academic skills.

How to Contact your School

Your child’s classroom teacher is your main partner in this work and the best first contact when you have questions/concerns.

If the teacher can’t answer your question, they will have the appropriate person connect with you.

If you have a more general question, calling our front office administrative assistants is often the way to get your question answered.  You can reach them at 608-834-7103 or by emailing dksercy@sunprairieschools.org.
