Celebrating 10 Years in Sun Prairie
Established 2012

“A community school is a public school—the hub of its neighborhood, uniting educators, community partners, and families to provide all students top-quality academics, enrichment, health and social services, and opportunities to learn and thrive.”
-Coalition for Community Schools

Community schools are public schools in the hub of their neighborhoods, uniting educators, community partners, and families to provide all students with top-quality academics, enrichment, health and social services, and opportunities to learn and thrive. Our District uses Community Schools as a strategy to improve academic achievement for all students, reduce student chronic absenteeism, and increase family connectedness to our schools and community.

Here in Sun Prairie, we use the Community Schools strategy to support:

  • Improving academic achievement for all students
  • Reducing student chronic absenteeism
  • Increasing family connectedness to the school and community

In 2020, Sun Prairie Community Schools started a scale-up plan that will take place over the next three years. Creekside Elementary was the first Community School site added, followed by Prairie View Middle School and Central Heights Middle School during this school year.
