John Olson - Varsity Head Coach
Coach Olson coached previously at Madison East, Deerfield, Kenosha, Rio, and St. Petersburg, FL. Basketball was a way of life growing up on the east side of Madison. It brought kids from diverse backgrounds together and created lifetime memories and friendships. Coaching provides me an opportunity to make those same experiences happen for today's athletes at Sun Prairie High School.
Phil Jerg - Varsity Assistant Coach
This is Coach Jerg's 44th year coaching boys and girls basketball in Wisconsin, and the 5th under Coach Olson at Sun Prairie. Phil played 4 years of basketball at Janesville Craig and 4 years at UW Stevens Point. He has been a teacher and basketball coach at DC Everest, Berlin, and DeForest High Schools. He also coached at Madison La Follette. He retired from teaching in 2012. In the fall of 2017 Phil was inducted into the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Coach Jerg loves to teach basketball skills during practice. His goal is to improve the skill level of the players and to help the Cardinals basketball program grow.
