Joel Block is one of our co-head cross country coaches. Coach Block started coaching high school cross country in 2022. He has coached with the Sun Prairie track and field program since 2015 and has multitude of coaching experiences from his time with River Valley High School. Coach Block was previously recognized in 2022 as the USA Track and Field Pole Vault Development National High School Coach of the Year.
Doug Maughan - Cross Country Co-Head Coach
Doug Maughan is one of our co-head cross country coaches. Coach Maughan began coaching high school cross country in 2022 and has worked with our middle school cross country programs since 2005. He has also been in charge of the high school track & field program since 2006. Coach Maughan brings running experience from both Lancaster High School and UW-Platteville. Coach Maughan credits hard-working athletes, supportive parents, and dedicated coaches as the reason SPCC has established itself as a competitive and well-respected program.
Clara Williamson - Cross Country Assistant Coach
Clara Williamson currently works at Horizon Elementary as an elementary special education teacher. Prior to working at Horizon, she was an elementary special education teacher in Eau Claire, WI. Clara has been a runner her whole life, including running cross country and track for UW-Eau Claire. She enjoys running half marathons as well. She also has coaching experience for the Blugolds as a volunteer coach for cross country. Clara loves helping athletes grow and supporting them in reaching their goals!
Jonah Nelson - Cross Country Assistant Coach
Jonah grew up in Dodgeville and always loved to run around and stay active. He played soccer, basketball, and track in high school. After high school, he went to University of Wisconsin-Whitewater to compete in Track and Field, and eventually joined the Cross Country program as well. Jonah is currently a financial adviser at Atlas Wealth Advisers in Madison and works with some fellow UWW Track and Field alumnus! This will be Jonah's first year coaching at the high school level, but his years at Whitewater in leadership roles on the team, as well as coaching Cross Country camps for middle and high schoolers, he is excited to get back into the world of running and help the team do great things this season!
