Professional Learning

Welcome to the Professional Learning Department home page!  We are located at the Professional Learning Center (PLC), which is part of the newly renovated Hilltop Campus which also includes Central Heights Middle School, Prairie Phoenix Academy, and our Employee Wellness Clinic.  We have an incredible large professional learning space as well as several smaller spaces for meetings, collaboration, or training.

Our Professional Learning department is focused on growing our educators to improve student outcomes.  To focus and align our professional learning across the school district, we leverage the district strategic plan and instructional framework to ensure we engage in continuous improvement of our highest confidence strategies.  Key structures supporting staff growth in these strategic areas are during professional learning sessions, engaging in instructional coaching, supporting our newest educators through mentoring, and developing a culture of feedback. This creates coherence in our system, cultivating a culture of educational excellence.

Further, like our students, who can choose which skills they wish to further develop, our staff also are given similar opportunities. We provide our educators with Professional Learning sessions year-round to further develop their skills and allow them to explore their interests. In turn, this learning provides them with new tools to take what they are learning and implement new ideas and strategies into their classrooms to better help students succeed.

Additionally, it is a little known fact that the Professional Learning Center is actually also a little school.  There are 3 different student programs that operate out of the PLC with approximately 75 students.  We have a lot of vocational opportunities and responsibilities that our students engage in throughout their day both in the PLC and in our community.

Finally, the Professional Learning Department has a Youth Apprentice for meeting and event planning.  We are so thankful for this to help our little department have a big impact.
