Public School Open Enrollment allows parents/guardians to apply for their children to attend school in a school district other than the one in which they reside. Parents/guardians normally apply for open enrollment for the following school year during a three-month application period which begins in February and ends on the last weekday in April. However, 2011 Act 114 established a procedure by which parents may apply for open enrollment outside of the regular application period.
Parents who have missed the regular application deadline for applying for the 2018-19 school year may submit an Alternative Open Enrollment application.
Please email Lisa Sprindis or call 608.834.6511, if you have any questions regarding the open enrollment application process. You will also find answers to frequently asked questions about open enrollment HERE.
More information about the Alternative Open Enrollment procedure can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (DPI) website.
(Open Enrollment does not mean changing schools within the Sun Prairie Area School District. If you live in Sun Prairie and want to request that your child attend a different school other than the one in which they are assigned, please contact Theresa Wisden at 608.834.6517 regarding Voluntary Placement.)
Sun Prairie School District has made available student accident insurance coverage for your child on a voluntary basis through Markel Insurance Company. Parents/guardians can choose the type of coverage that best fits their student's needs; School Time Coverage, Around the Clock Coverage, and Interscholastic Football Coverage.
Reasons to Purchase this Coverage:
- High deductible and co-pays in your health plan. Many health plans have increased the amount of out-of-pocket expenses.
- No insurance. If you have no other insurance, this can become your primary accident plan.
- This plan will provide benefits for medical expenses incurred because of an accident.
For more information or to enroll, please visit Markel at or call 877.444.5014. Seven Corners, Inc. is Markel's administrator for this program.
