The Sun Prairie Area School District offers one of the largest and most diverse Summer School Programs in the state.

Summer Educational programs are offered to students ranging in age from 4-18 year olds (high school seniors), and we provide district sponsored transportation and nutritional services. The majority of our Summer School staff members are in-district teachers and support staff members, we also attract teachers from surrounding school districts.


We are gearing up for
Summer School 2019! 

We continue to review and improve our program from year to year. We have found that having the three (3) periods in a day has increased learning. Now students that are asked to take a review class can also enjoy a fun class, which stimulates learning.

Summer School 2019 Dates

June and July 2019 Summer School Sessions are held Monday-Thursday.

Session 1: June 24 - July 11
Session 2: July 15 - July 31

The first day is June 24 (Monday) and the last day is July 31 (Wednesday).  

  • There are no classes on July 4 (Thursday)
  • The week of July 4th and the final week of Summer School are shortened weeks. Both weeks end on a Wednesday.

There are additional learning opportunities in the afternoon/evenings at Sun Prairie High School.  There are special opportunities at the middle, upper middle, and high school in August.
No district busing is provided for afternoon or August classes.    

Registration will open on the
following dates:

  • High School (current grades 9-12) - MON, JAN 28, 2019 at 8:00 am
     

  • 4K Students - WED, MAR 13, 2019 at 7:00 am
     

  • Elementary Students (current grades K-4) - TUES, MAR 26, 2019 at 7:00 am
     

  • Middle/Upper Middle Level Students (current grades 5-8) - TUES, APR 2, 2019 at 7:00 am

ELEMENTARY

  • 7:00 am - Elementary schools open (more information to come on this hour)
  • 7:40 - 7:50 am - Buses arrive
  • 7:40 - 8:00 am - Breakfast
  • Period 1: 8:00 - 9:15 am = 75 min
  • Period 2: 9:20 - 10:35 am = 75 min
  • 10:35 - 10:55 am = Lunch
  • Period 3: 10:55 am - 12:10 pm = 75 min
  • 12:15 pm - all students dismissed

MIDDLE/UPPER MIDDLE

  • 7:40 - 7:50 am - Buses arrive
  • Period 1: 8:00 - 9:15 am = 75 min
  • Period 2: 9:20 - 10:35 am = 75 min
  • 10:35 - 10:55 am = Lunch
  • Period 3: 10:55 am - 12:10 pm = 75 min

Refund Policy

If you have canceled a student’s registration, the District will provide a full (100%) refund of registration fees so long as a refund request is made prior to the start date of the summer school session for which the refund is requested. If a refund request is submitted on or after the start date of the summer school session for which a refund is requested, no refund will be issued. If you have registered for both summer school sessions and have requested a refund after the start date of the first summer school session, the District will provide a refund for the second session only. Exceptions may be made in extenuating circumstances, at the discretion of the District. To request a refund, contact the coordinator for your child’s level.

Refunds may be applied to a student’s account (the account of the student whose registration is being canceled) or may be issued to you directly. Refunds will be processed as soon as possible, but generally take at least one month to process.

Privacy Statement

The Sun Prairie Area School District (the “District”) works with vendors who directly process credit card and debit card payments that may be made for registration and other services or activities. The District does not receive non-public personal information as defined under federal or state laws nor does the District receive Cardholder Data requiring compliance with the Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standards (DSS). Nonetheless, the District’s website is secure and the District maintains full compliance with PCI DSS standards. The limited payment-related information that the District receives from its vendors is truncated and encrypted. We do not share this information.
