Working Together to Build Our Math Future
Our District’s commitment to academic excellence is a continuous journey, not a destination. As part of our ongoing Curriculum Renewal and Design Process, we have been deliberately working through a multiphase review of mathematics materials to ensure that our classrooms have the best possible resources.
This process has been underway for some time, driven heavily by the expertise of our educators. Building on the research and evaluation already conducted by our teachers, we recently took a significant step to expand the conversation to our broader community.

In mid-December, as the latest step in this timeline, we hosted two interactive open houses. As part of our two-way communication initiative, these events were held at Meadow View Elementary and Northside Elementary—sites strategically chosen to center the voices within our Title I schools and Dual Language Immersion (DLI) programs.
These evenings provided a vital space for collaboration. Parents and caregivers were able to:
- engage in dialogue with the educators on our Math Steering Committee, who have been piloting and analyzing these resources
- preview materials from the three finalists: enVision Math, Imagine Learning, and i-Ready
- provide written feedback to be included in the formal review data
This community input was then reviewed, summarized, and treated as critical data alongside the technical evaluations provided by our teachers.
By layering community perspectives on top of educator expertise, we are ensuring that this adoption is not a decision made in isolation. It is the result of a transparent, comprehensive process designed to center the voices of the people who matter most: our students, our teachers, and our families.

The Recommended Materials
Our District has been on a multiyear journey to select new instructional materials for K–5 Math. The Math Steering Committee, made up of Sun Prairie elementary school educators, is prepared to make its recommendation to the School Board on Monday, February 9, to purchase the i-Ready Math instructional materials. In the interest of transparency, we invite our community to watch this screencast, prepared by our teachers on the Steering Committee, to learn more about the materials selection process, the rationale for the recommendation, and how family and community feedback were incorporated into the decision.
